Extract attachments from email files in bulk
Need all invoices, photos or documents that were attached to emails in an archive? Letterlark collects the attachments of the messages you select into one .zip file, with a folder per message.
Steps
- Open Letterlark and open the .pst, .ost, .mbox, .msg or .eml files.
- Tick With attachments to show only messages that have attachments. Add a search word or a date range to narrow it down.
- Click Select all results, then Export → All attachments (.zip).
How the zip is organised
Each message gets a folder named after its date and subject, for example 2024-03-01 Invoice March/, containing that message’s attachments with their original file names. Images that are only part of the message layout (inline logos) are left out.
Questions and answers
Is there a command-line alternative?
Yes – tools such as munpack or small scripts can extract attachments from EML or MBOX files. Letterlark is for people who prefer not to use a terminal, and it also reads PST and MSG.
Is there a limit?
The free version processes 20 messages per export. A license removes this limit.
