Export a list of emails to Excel
For audits, legal holds or just cleaning up, a spreadsheet listing every email – who, when, subject, attachments – is often more useful than the emails themselves.

In classic Outlook for Windows
File › Open & Export › Import/Export › Export to a file › Comma Separated Values, then pick a folder. This exports message fields including the body, one folder at a time, and only from mailboxes connected to Outlook. Microsoft's new Outlook does not offer this wizard.
From any mail file, without Outlook
- Open the PST, OST, MBOX, MSG or EML files in Letterlark.
- Filter by folder, date or search term, and select the messages.
- Choose CSV. Columns: date (UTC), folder, from name, from email, to, cc, subject, number of attachments, attachment names, source file.
- Open the CSV in Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice (it is UTF-8, so non-Latin names keep their characters).
The CSV is an index – it does not contain the message bodies. Use PDF or EML export for the content.
Useful Excel steps afterwards
- PivotTable on from_email to see who sent the most mail.
- Filter attachments > 0 to find the messages with files.
- Convert the date column with
=DATEVALUE(LEFT(A2,10))if your Excel doesn't recognise it.
Open your mail file now. Letterlark opens PST, OST, MSG, EML and MBOX files in Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari on Windows, Mac, Linux or Chromebook. Files are read on your computer – the app page cannot upload anything. Viewing and search are free without limit; exports (PDF, EML, MBOX, CSV, attachments) are free up to 20 messages at a time. A one-time license is $19 (Personal) or $49 (Pro, business use).
